I like it a lot, by DixiesMom on November 29, 2006
I liked this book the first time I read it and years later went searching for it online. While many of the characters do have sex (a lot), there is good building of interest in the main characters and their relationships. Plus, several of the scenes between horses, dogs, and people brought tears to my eyes or a real laugh. When one rider comes home after a long hospitalization - that scene really got me. Yeah, it's probably trashy; but the characters and the animals make up for it.

Not high literature, but dang, trashy sex AND international show jumping in one novel? How can you resist?!
Great book, by equestrielle on February 27, 2003
I love this book, and have read it about three times over the years since I got it. No, it is not great literature! But is it so fun to read. The first 2/3rds is probably better than the end, but it's a nice satisfying long read. Great characters, the story line moves right along, and the horse details are very good. As the other reader said, there is a lot of gratuitous sex in the novel, oh well! Definitely worth a read if you want an entertaining book with some interesting characters you come to care about. It's getting dated now, of course, since it was published in the 1980s, but doesn't seem old fashioned yet. Definitely makes you want to go out and get a courageous show jumper!
Fun, by julieclaire on February 26, 2003
This book is such an enjoyable read! Everyone who reads it loves it. It isn't great literature, of course, but it's not trying to be. It's a fun book about outlandish characters and events. It's unrealistic, but you love to read it. I think Cooper has an amazing talent for making her characters come alive. It's quite a mature book, with lots of sex, so be warned! And enjoy!
