(Racing) mystery set at Thoroughbred race tracks

Description:
(I confess I listened to the unabridged CD while travelling to a horse show) Cliff Janeway travels to a horse farm in Idaho to evaluate a collection of children's books. The mysterious deaths surrounding these books leads him to several California racetracks, where he takes a job "walking hots" while investigating. I enjoyed this book - the characters are realistic as are the horses and the descriptions of racetrack life. Just as in real life, characters have many sides. John Dunning does an excellant job, and I am now going to purchase all the books in this mystery series.
