(jumping) Cammie rides horses in Ireland
Description:
From the jacket:
Try to imagine the famous Dublin Horse Show -- the crowds of people under their multicolored umbrellas, looking like a great field of mushrooms; the flags of every nation waving gaily in the arena; the formidably high jumps. Wouldn't you have been as nervous as Cammie Moore was? Her friend Sybil had taken sick and Cammie had been asked the very day before to ride in the competition on a horse reputed to be very difficult. Cammie's trip to Ireland began in just that exciting way, but she never anticipated how it would end.
After the colorful week of the Horse Show, Cammie paid a visit to Dunamor, a remote and lonely island from which her ancestors came. Her cousin Tim was handsome and friendly, but Cammie was confused and hurt by the hostile attitude of Tim's mother and grandmother. Cammie's only solace is the untamed red stallion, who is an "outcast' too.
It takes a while for Cammie to discover what had embittered these two women, and then she begins to wish she didn't know. How can Cammie change their attitudes and win their friendship when everything she does turns out wrong?
This is a sequel to Cammie's Choice and Cammie's Challenge and, as they did, portrays a vivid and realistic picture of a young girl growing up, and of the horses and competitions she loves and the challenges she meets and overcomes.
Jane McIlvaine's detailed information on the handling and grooming of horses, and on riding style, is one of the outstanding features of the book and one which will bring readers back to her story again and again. She is the author of many highly successful horse stories.
